Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, on Friday called attention to several issues ranging from the cyberattack on the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) to rupiah exchange rate stability.

While delivering the opening speech at the plenary session to open the First Period of the DPR 2024–2025 Session at the parliamentary complex on Friday, Maharani listed 15 concerns of the people.

"The DPR, through its supervisory function, wants to ensure that the government's works can prosper the people, assist in people's affairs, build infrastructure for the people, create security and order, and so on," Maharani said.

According to her, the government must have a high commitment to follow up on the decisions reached at the meetings of DPR commissions and councils.

The government's commitment would reflect that there is mutual respect between the executive and legislative institutions, she added.

Maharani said that the "check and balance" principle among the branches of state power, namely the executive, the legislative, and the judiciary, has been mandated in the Constitution and strengthened by the post-reformation Constitution amendment.

The DPR is also paying attention to the preparations ahead of the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024.

The following are the 15 points of concern highlighted by the DPR:

1. Cyberattack on the National Data Center;

2. Merging of public broadcasting agencies (LPPs);

3. Promotion of honorary teachers as contract-based civil servants (PPPK);

4. Permit for the Right to Cultivate (HGU) in the IKN Nusantara capital city;

5. Land mafia;

6. Online gambling;

7. Tin mining corruption case;

8. Performance of state capital participation (PMN) in several state-owned enterprises;

9. Completion of national strategic projects (PSN);

10. Electricity subsidies in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged, areas (3T);

11. Additional Hajj quota;

12. Implementing regulations under the Omnibus Law on Health;

13. Online-based admissions of new students;

14. Honorary teacher cleansing policy; and

15. Rupiah exchange rate stability.
