He delivered the remarks at the pre-launch event of the Maritime Cloud Platform (MCP) in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country with a strategic sea route, therefore the maritime sector is one of the vital sectors of the national economy.
"The potential of our country's blue economy is very large. For this nation, the sea is not only a connector, but also the heart of the economy, a source of life, and a symbol of glory," he said in a statement.
For that reason, the establishment of the MCP deserves to be lauded as part of an effort to support the transformation of the national shipping ecosystem, he added.
The MCP has been established through the synergy of state-run survey service holding IDSurvey and cellular operator Telkomsel — a part of the state-owned telecommunications enterprise Telkom Group. It is aimed at optimizing the economic potential and sustainability of Indonesia's maritime industry through digital transformation.
In the future, communities inside and outside the country will be able to access the MCP as a maritime digital ecosystem that combines three technologies: cloud computing, satellite constellation, and artificial intelligence.
IDSurvey president director Arisudono said that the platform would prove very helpful in improving shipping safety and security through the information system dashboard feature as well as more efficient and reliable real-time satellite communication, both between ships and with the control center.
According to him, the MCP concept is a form of IDSurvey's commitment to providing safety assurance services, and going forward, it will provide optimal service by offering several product advantages.
"This MCP solution concept is the beginning of the digital transformation in the maritime industry that is more efficient, safe, and sustainable," he added.
