Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Denpasar Immigration Detention Center in Bali has deported a Russian national holding an investor residence permit over her involvement in a prostitution case.

"We do not tolerate the abuse of residence permits," the head of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, Gede Dudy Duwita, said on Friday.

AA, a 32-year-old Russian national, entered Indonesia on December 23, 2020, on a business visa. She later extended her stay with a limited stay permit (ITAS) with investor status, valid until 2025.

During the Jagratara operation conducted by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung district, AA was arrested. She was then temporarily detained at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center before being deported to Russia.

An investigation revealed that AA had failed to invest her capital in Bali despite obtaining an investor permit, the Immigration official stated.

Gede informed us that AA worked as a marketing manager at an online shop selling cosmetics to Russia, earning a salary of 200 thousand Russian rubles (US$2,200) per month.

Additionally, she was found to be involved in prostitution and arrested from a villa in Seminyak, Badung district, during a Ngurah Rai Immigration intelligence operation.

She told police that she earned up to Rp15 million to Rp20 million (around US$1,300) from the illegal prostitution business.

Gede said that Ngurah Rai Immigration has also asked the Directorate General of Immigration, Jakarta, to include AA on the prevention list.

Meanwhile, as per data from the Bali Provincial Law and Human Rights Office, 157 foreign nationals were deported from Bali in the period from January to August 27, 2024, by three Immigration offices — Singaraja, Ngurah Rai, and Denpasar.

Another 194 foreign nationals are currently awaiting deportation at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center.

The reasons for their deportation include the misuse of the stay permit, exceeding the stay permit, and involvement in criminal cases.
