Baznas' Deputy for Distribution and Utilization M. Imdadun Rahmat conveyed this information at the groundbreaking of the construction of the Baznas Health House (RSB) here on Thursday.
"There are still about four months left. Hence, we are optimistic that this year's alms collection will exceed the target that has been set," he remarked.
He explained that West Java, East Java, and Central Java are the provinces contributing the largest amount of alms.
Meanwhile, in the Sumatra region, Riau Province and Riau Islands Province are among the highest alms contributors, where in 2023, the Riau Islands collected Rp9.3 billion, or an increase of 113 percent from Rp4.3 billion in 2022.
"Because of this, Riau Islands Province won the best alms collector award at the 2024 Baznas Award," Rahmat highlighted.
He explained that the collected alms money would be channeled to various community empowerment programs such as scholarships, santripreneur or entrepreneurship program targeting Islamic boarding school students, financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME), and micro-financing program.
Rahmat stated that in Riau Islands, the collected alms have been utilized for the agency's national programs, such as the RSB construction, to provide health services for the underprivileged.
Moreover, the "ZChicken" program in Batam City aims to improve the quality of life of alms recipients through economic empowerment, with a focus on helping them become entrepreneurs in the culinary sector.
"These empowerment programs are expected to change the status of alms beneficiaries to alms givers," Rahmat stated.
