Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has expressed the hope that the next government will continue the development of national tourism destinations.

"Our policy on tourism is inclusive, which involves all parties to participate. Don't let this vision that has been built for 10 years not sustained well," he advised here on Friday.

He informed that in the final days of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet's term, he will focus on and speed up the completion of the ongoing programs of his ministry.

One such flagship program is the development of five super-priority tourism destinations — Lake Toba, Borobudur Temple, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang.

"Our recommendation is to continue and complete these five super-priority tourism destinations. In terms of infrastructure, the progress is above 80 percent, and some have been completed," the minister said.

He added that the program has led to an increase in tourist visits to the five destinations. "Especially in Likupang, tourist visits have significantly increased until now," he highlighted.

He said that he expects the next government to continue human resource development and capacity-building in the tourism and creative economy sector.

"There is also the tourism village program that includes 17 points (of Sustainable Development Goals)," he added.

He affirmed that he will also expedite programs that aim to increase added value and exports of creative economy products as well as funding for business players, so that the target of creating 4.4 million jobs can be achieved.

"We keep boosting the target of creating 4.4 million jobs and increasing creative economy players in all of Indonesia," he said.

He then noted that Indonesia's tourism trend is currently positive. "Our tourism quality is increasing and public participation is high," he added.
