In a video broadcast, Prabowo stated that he has long been fighting for labor rights.
"I have long been fighting alongside you, my brothers and sisters, with workers throughout Indonesia, for the rights and welfare of workers, farmers, fishermen, and all Indonesian people," he said.
Prabowo added that he has also been fighting for the rights of citizens without access to welfare, despite living in an independent country.
He then invited labor unions, including Labor Party members, to join the fight for an economy based on the state ideology Pancasila rather than neoliberal capitalism.
"An economy based on neoliberal capitalism is often incompatible with Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, I hope we can continue to work together, support, encourage, and correct each other," Prabowo said.
He emphasized the importance of autonomy in managing the country's wealth, stating that the courage to eradicate corruption can pave the way to such independence.
"We must prevent and have the courage to eliminate corruption, misappropriation, and denial of the Constitution we love," he said. "We must stand with the weakest."
Prabowo added that after his inauguration as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, he will remain committed to protecting and managing national wealth so its benefits can be enjoyed by all Indonesians.
"With economic and social justice, I believe the livelihood of all Indonesians will improve," he said.
