"Do not prioritize the ego of one or two parties, but it must be for the common good. We need collaboration because if we walk alone, we will not reach our goal," he noted in a press release from his ministry received on Friday.
The minister made the statement at the International Seminar and the Launch of Collaboration for Climate-Resilient Village Action in Bali on Thursday (September 26) night.
Madjid noted that apart from the ministry, collaboration for the development of climate-resilient villages involves other ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, as well as village governments.
On that occasion, he also underlined the importance of villages in responding to climate change.
He highlighted villages, with their unique characteristics, can be at the forefront in achieving goal number 13 of village sustainable development goals (SDGs) of realizing climate-resilient villages.
He further emphasized that climate-resilient villages must be supported by improvement in the capacity of human resources so that village communities can develop better understanding and preparedness in handling the issue of climate change.
"It is essential for us to know the communities' position on whether they are already collectively aware of this issue. We should not blame the communities, the victims, when we have not disseminated information regarding climate change education and literacy," he remarked.
