She said that great potential can be achieved by strengthening bilateral cooperation with Syria in various sectors, including the economy.
"We see great potential in the public works and construction sectors where Indonesian state-owned companies can contribute," she expounded, according to a statement released by her office on Saturday.
The two foreign ministers discussed joint efforts to increase interaction between the people of the two countries through scholarship programs and martial arts training, besides advancing moderate Islam.
Marsudi also lauded cooperation with the Syrian government in repatriating Indonesian foreign terrorists (FTF) from the country.
She emphasized that it is important for local authorities to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens living and working in Syria.
As a form of commitment to strengthen diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, Marsudi and Al-Sabbagh signed a visa-free agreement for diplomatic and official passports.
Besides bilateral cooperation, the two foreign ministers also discussed the Palestinian issue, which has escalated conflict in the Middle East region.
Marsudi and Al-Sabbagh agreed to put pressure on Israel to stop the aggression in Palestine and encourage the world to be impartial in upholding international law.
Representatives of member countries of the United Nations gathered at the UN Headquarters in New York from September 22–28, 2024, to attend the High-Level Week of the 79th Session of the UNGA.
