Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights is developing an information system called Human Rights Development Profile to integrate data related to human rights protection in Indonesia.

The system’s development is driven by the disorderly collection of data stored by central and regional institutions, the ministry’s director of human rights system and information technology, Eko Budianto, said.

He made the remarks during an online information dissemination, which was followed from Jakarta on Tuesday.

He said that since different ministries and agencies are playing a role in human rights protection, the Law and Human Rights Ministry, as the chief national institution in this context, has felt the urgent need to devise an integrated platform to support human rights advancement.

“It is imperative for us to devise a single profile that can picture matters related to human rights development at the national level in Indonesia,” Budianto pointed out.

According to the official, the information system will display data on various matters, including on vulnerable groups, such as the disabled.

He, however, said that developing the Human Rights Development Profile is a challenging task, given that human rights encompass a wide range of aspects, such as economy, social, defense, security, and politics.

For that reason, the director emphasized the need for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to team up with all relevant ministries and agencies, both at the central and regional levels.

“This profile is still under development. In this regard, we have drawn a timeline, in which we set 2029 as the targeted year of completion,” he added.

The development of the Human Rights Development Profile is mandated by Article 33 of Presidential Regulation No.18 of 2023.

Point (a) of the regulation stipulates that the ministry’s Human Rights Directorate General be tasked with arranging an indicator and profile of human rights development, among others.
