Jakarta (ANTARA) - The TNI Headquarters practiced a drone attack and fighter jet aerial battle (dogfight) during a rehearsal for its 79th anniversary commemoration above the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Thursday.

The person in charge of the attraction, Rear Marshal Donald Kasenda, said that the maneuvers will demonstrate the Indonesian Defense Forces' (TNI's) capabilities during the commemoration event on October 5, 2024.

"The dogfight will use F-16 and Sukhoi fighter jets, and will close with a bomb burst from many fighter jets, and end with a high-speed pass," he informed.

According to him, the high-speed flight maneuver will be carried out by a Sukhoi-30 MK2 fighter jet from the Air Force's Air Squadron 11, manned by TH-153 Captain Yanifa "Knighthawk" Eska and TH-163 Captain Hasan "Simba" Habibur Rahman.

Meanwhile, in the air warfare maneuver (ACM) or dogfight, the Sukhoi-30 MK2 aircraft will play the role of enemy aircraft.

It will be flown by the Commander of Air Squadron 11, Lieutenant Colonel Andry "Stellar" Libarsyah in the front seat and Lieutenant Avinash "Ababil" Harits in the rear seat.

The TNI will also perform a drone attack demonstration involving a number of combat drones designed to explode toward the target, Kasenda said.

He informed that several other attractions have also been prepared, including a fly-past involving several air defense systems from the Air Force, Army, and Navy.

Furthermore, Air Force pilots from Air Squadron 31, Air Squadron 32, and Air Squadron 33 will carry out a combined air-refueling formation, he added.

Kasenda said that the readiness of the demonstration, troop parade, and defense system parade is nearly 100 percent.

According to him, the Air Force, Navy, and Army will deploy 100 thousand troops and more than a thousand defense equipment for the parade and display at the commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the TNI at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on October 5.

The ceremony will be led directly by President Joko Widodo, accompanied by the Minister of Defense/President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
