Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry affirmed that the use of natural medicines (phytopharmaca) holds the potential to realize safe and affordable health services.

"The use of phytopharmaceuticals opens up opportunities for more affordable and safe health services while also supporting a sustainable domestic herbal industry," the ministry's Acting Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile Industry, Reni Yanita, stated on Friday.

She highlighted that the ministry is encouraging the use of clinically tested natural medicines in healthcare facilities nationwide and targeting an increase in the use of phytopharmaceuticals in national health services.

In this effort, Yanita said her side has teamed up with various institutions and health service providers to increase awareness and understanding of the benefits of phytopharmaceuticals, including supporting research and development of quality products to be widely accepted in healthcare facilities.

Moreover, she noted that support is also offered through knowledge transfer on current regulations and product development and increasing market awareness and interest in natural medicine products through education and promotion.

Through this initiative, the government is committed to supporting the phytopharmaca industry to provide safe, efficacious, and quality products in accordance with market standards, Yanita stated.
