Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) give weightage to applying a soft approach and conducting dialogue for conflict resolution in the Middle East, especially in Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon, and Israel.

Jokowi conveyed this after attending the 79th Anniversary ceremony of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, on Saturday.

"If all countries take soft approaches through dialogue, meetings, and good communication, I think the conflict can be avoided," he remarked.

According to the head of state, meetings and sound communication between all parties involved are the key to avoiding further conflict escalation.

"In my opinion, dialogue is the only way to resolve the conflicts of Israel with Palestine, Israel with Hezbollah, and Iran with Israel. All must be resolved at the negotiating table," he emphasized.

Furthermore, he assessed that all countries should commit to not escalating the conflict and strive to prioritize dialogue in finding a peaceful solution in the region.

He affirmed that Indonesia's position remains consistent in promoting peace in the Middle East through diplomacy and mediation, based on the principles of a free and active foreign policy.

Earlier, the president strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Lebanon that has occurred since September 23 and resulted in the death toll reaching two thousand as of Saturday.

"Indonesia strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Lebanon," he remarked.

To that end, President Jokowi called on the United Nations (UN) and all countries to provide a quick response to the Israeli attack to prevent more victims.

"I ask all countries and the UN to provide a quick response to avoid more victims in the future," he emphasized.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi also responded to the Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon.

"We strongly condemn the Israeli attacks on Lebanon that have resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths, including children," she noted on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24.
