Solo (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Ministry, on Sunday, inaugurated an inclusive and well-equipped media center for the 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) at The Royal Surakarta Heritage Hotel, Solo, Central Java.

"This media center serves as part of our efforts to disseminate positive information on the 2024 Peparnas to the public," head of the ministry's Peparnas Media Center Team Andi Muslim remarked.

Speaking in the company of the chairperson of the Peparnas Grand Committee DB Susanto, Muslim noted that the media center provides sign language services for press conferences in addition to offering journalists adequate tools and facilities.

The official informed that the press hub, with a capacity of 100 people, has interview corners and is equipped with 10 computers, photocopiers, scanners, printers, streaming devices, and internet network of 500 megabytes per second.

Apart from work-related tools and facilities, he said the media center of the 2024 Peparnas also provides reporters with hospitality services, such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

Moreover, two billiard tables, two electric massage chairs, masseurs, a praying room, and smoking room have been well prepared, he added.

According to Muslim, the media center is open daily from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. local time throughout the 17th Peparnas from October 6-13.

However, he stated that the operating hours might be extended to 11 p.m. during the event's opening and closing ceremonies.

This year's Peparnas draws participation from a total of 4,625 para athletes from across Indonesia.

They will vie for medals in 20 sports competitions taking place in the Greater Solo area comprising Solo city, Sukoharjo district, Boyolali district, and Karanganyar district.

The event will feature archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, chess, bike racing, cerebral palsy football, table tennis, blind judo, weightlifting, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, sitting volleyball, tenpin bowling, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis, wheelchair basketball, goalball, and e-sports.
