The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) highlighted the importance of collecting and utilizing age group data to pursue accuracy in implementing the Free Nutritious Meals Program.
In Jakarta on Monday, BKKBN's Deputy for Population Bonivasius Prasetya Ichtiarto underscored the importance of the National Nutrition Agency employing data on the number of children up to two years of age and 3-5 years as well as schoolchildren to make the program a success.
On that note, he said the data can be acquired by combining BKKBN's population reports and family data.
Ichtiarto then emphasized that the proper utilization of data is instrumental for the government in carrying out its programs in an efficient and on-point manner.
"Without data, we cannot know what programs we should create and how efficient our programs are. Population reports are helpful not only to the BKKBN but also to other ministries and agencies as well as regional governments to implement programs," he stated.
Earlier, a family planning expert at BKKBN Dwi Listyawardani assessed that the Free Nutritious Meal Program could help improve public health.
"The nutritious meals program, to be managed by the National Nutrition Agency, finds its main objective in enhancing public health and students' learning abilities," she remarked here on September 16.
The National Nutrition Agency, which will serve as a strategic body for addressing nutritional issues in the country, will need to develop intervention programs to educate families on healthy lifestyles to prevent childhood stunting, she stated.
On October 2, Nevy Dwi Soesanto, a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, revealed that a trial for the Free Nutritious Meals Program is being rolled out in 316 schools in six cities and a district.
During a ceremonial event of the program's trial at Public Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 1 Kudus in Kudus District, Central Java, he remarked that the trials target 134,959 elementary and junior high school students.
He noted that among the regions implementing such a trial are Surakarta City, Salatiga City, and Kudus District.
In Kudus, he remarked that a trial is conducted for 2,599 students at Public MTs 1 Kudus, Junior High School 1 Gebog, Elementary School 2 Wergu Wetan, and Umar bin Khattab Islamic Elementary School.
