Speaking at the Garuda Palace in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Friday, he noted that before his tenure, Indonesia had only built about 780 kilometers of toll roads in the span of four decades.
He made these remarks while opening the Kompas 100 CEO Forum, which was also observed online from Jakarta.
In his speech, Jokowi pointed out that Indonesia still lags far behind China, which has built 48,000 kilometers of toll roads.
Additionally, he emphasized that since taking office in 2014, the Indonesian government has completed the construction of 26 new airports and 25 new ports, while also revitalizing 164 existing ports.
Jokowi then outlined various public transport systems developed by his administration over the past decade, mentioning the establishment and operation of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system connecting southern and central Jakarta.
He also noted that the operating route of this public transport service would be expanded.
Jokowi further drew attention to the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system serving Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi, highlighting that infrastructure construction will continue to expand its coverage.
He also praised the successful development and operation of Southeast Asia's first high-speed rail service, spanning 148 kilometers from Jakarta to Bandung.
However, he once again compared this accomplishment to China, noting that the country boasts more than 45,000 kilometers of high-speed rail networks.
