"It is time for our nation to consolidate. Everyone must be united because today, nearly all countries are facing uncertainties. Everything is uncertain," he said.
Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, made these remarks during the Kompas 100 CEO Forum, held at the Garuda Palace in the new capital Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Friday.
Speaking to an audience of CEOs, government officials, academics, and the public, he stressed the importance of unity in confronting the challenging global situation.
Jokowi noted that while Indonesia's economic growth is projected to reach 2.7 to 2.8 percent next year, the average growth over the past decade has remained above 5 percent.
"These are things we should be grateful for," he emphasized.
He also addressed the rise of pessimism, which tends to attract more public attention, and the need to shift this mindset.
"What we need now is to strengthen positive and optimistic thinking. Unfortunately, what currently sells is pessimism and negativity," he remarked.
