Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA) - Chair of the Indonesian Public Relations Association (Perhumas) Boy Kelana Soebroto accentuated the need for Indonesia to play an important role at the World Public Relations Forum scheduled in Bali on November 19-22, 2024.

"This year, Indonesia will host a world forum where public relations professionals from various sectors will confer," Soebroto stated here on Saturday.

The World Public Relations Forum, which was earlier held in India, is expected to be Indonesia's stage to present big ideas in human resources by involving academicians from various countries.

The four-day forum in Bali will discuss an array of topics and issues.

On the first day, the forum's participants will speak on communication, knowledge, and the conference. On the second day, the public relations delegates and communication experts will discuss "purposeful influence" or "common good" topics.

"There are many rising global issues, but how can Indonesia play a role in this forum," he remarked.

The 2024 World Public Relations Forum, themed "Purposeful Influence for the Common Good," will include a discussion on the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

During his visit to Andalas University (Unand) in Padang where he gave an open lecture to public relations personnel, Soebroto emphasized that improving the quality of human resources, accompanied by the mastery and use of AI, is essential.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector IV of Unand, Henmaidi, affirmed that the open lecture, titled "Strengthening the Competence of Higher Education Public Relations by Optimizing AI," was a form of mentoring for public relations personnel in the university environment.

"This is a step to improve the professionalism of public relations staff," Henmaidi remarked.
