Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, has said that digital governance must be adopted by regional governments to make public services more optimal.

Digital governance can serve as proof that the digital transformation that is being carried out in regions is not limited to the provision of infrastructure but includes the improvement of public services, he explained.

"Technically, digital governance presents shifts in the operational dynamics of organizational and inter-organizational governance," he said in a statement released by his ministry on Saturday.

One example of digital governance implementation at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics is the provision of a channel for people to lodge complaints against negative content, such as hoaxes, online gambling content, and pornographic content, he informed.

The presence of a complaint channel that is open to the public allows the government to connect directly with the community without bureaucratic barriers.

This provides a sense of closeness to the community when accessing public services, for instance, to file a complaint.

Patria then invited regional governments to optimize the digital infrastructure in their regions to create digital governance that is in keeping with the culture of the local community.

"This is important because, with digital technology, public services can be provided more efficiently," he said.

Patria called for digital governance implementation at the launch of an index developed by Gadja Mada University called the Gadjah Mada Digital Transformation Governance Index (GM-DTGI) on Friday.

The index tracks regional governments' digital transformation.

He expressed the hope that the index will serve as a reference for regional governments in maximizing digital transformation to make public services more optimal.

"I hope it can drive the acceleration of digital transformation and become a comprehensive tool of evaluation for regional governments to realize the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision," he said. (INE)
