"President Joko Widodo can be recognized as a president who goes all out in advancing sports," Ariotedjo stated at the closing of the 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday, according to a statement from his ministry of Monday.
The minister said that Indonesia has experienced a significant leap in sports achievements at the national and international levels as reflected in various achievements of athletes in events such as the SEA Games, Asian Games, and Olympics.
"The achievements are beyond expectations and have made history," the minister remarked.
Ariotedjo noted that numerous sports facilities have also been built in various regions such as several football stadiums that have been renovated in accordance with FIFA standards.

Furthermore, the government has built a training center facility for Olympics preparations in Cibubur, Jakarta, and a Paralympic training center facility in Karanganyar, Central Java, that meet international standards.
He expressed optimism that Indonesia's sports achievements during President Jokowi's presidency would be managed maximally during President-elect Prabowo Subianto's presidency.
"I believe Indonesia's achievements will continue to increase," he remarked.
Earlier, in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, Indonesia bagged two gold medals and one bronze medal.
Meanwhile, in the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games, Indonesia won 14 medals comprising one gold medal, eight silver medals, and five bronze medals.
The number of medals won in this year's Paralympics edition is the country's most number of medals so far since it first participated in the multi-sport event in 1976.
