"President Prabowo has a big vision regarding food independence, food security, and food self-sufficiency," he remarked here on Tuesday.
He expressed optimism that the designed programs would be realized in the near future.
Sudaryono underlined the importance of togetherness and solidarity in all work units of the Ministry of Agriculture to achieve those goals.
He affirmed that cross-sectoral synergy and collaboration are key to success in realizing national food self-sufficiency.
Furthermore, he highlighted the continuation of programs from the earlier government under Indonesia's 7th President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) presidency to the current government of President Prabowo, especially in agricultural intensification and extensification.
He assessed that the continuation of programs in the agricultural sector is proof that both Jokowi and Prabowo have a strong commitment to food security.
"Intensification programs are proven to have increased the planting index from once to twice or even thrice (a year)," he remarked.
Sudaryono also highlighted his experience as deputy minister of agriculture during Jokowi's presidency, saying that he had established collaboration with Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman to bolster the national food system.
"I have collaborated with the minister, so I know how to run the bureaucracy," he noted.
Earlier on Monday (October 21), Sudaryono was inaugurated as deputy minister of agriculture along with other deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024-2029 period at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
He is reassigned to serve as deputy minister after being appointed as deputy minister of agriculture by President Jokowi on July 18, 2024.
