Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian emphasized that the development of superior human resources, particularly among members of the younger generation, is the key to Indonesia's progress.

The minister remarked that trained, well-educated, and healthy members of a population could propel Indonesia towards becoming a developed nation without relying on natural resources.

"Currently, more than 56 percent of (the members of) our young generation are aged 35 years and under. They must become productive, superior, educated, trained, and healthy workers. That is the key to Indonesia's progress alongside natural resources," he noted in a statement from his office on Monday.

Karnavian then highlighted the youth's significant historical contributions, from the independence era to reformation.

The minister reminded the younger generation to always be at the forefront of major changes in the nation.

Hence, through the spirit of the Youth Pledge, commemorated October 28, he advocated for the empowerment of the young generation while acknowledging the contributions of the older generation toward achieving the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

Karnavian emphasized that each region should focus on strengthening the education and health sectors.

According to the minister, proper education and training would generate productive human resources and contribute to national development.

Meanwhile, the minister emphasized that good health outcomes, especially in overcoming stunting, will enable individuals to grow and develop properly and actively participate in society.

Regarding the leadership transition from President Joko Widodo to President Prabowo Subianto, he ensured that his ranks would commit to supporting the policies of the new government.

Karnavian said that the ministry would participate in implementing priority programs, including the provision of nutritious food; digitalization of the government; food and energy self-sufficiency; and a program of three million affordable houses for lower-class state civil servants (ASN), members of the TNI (Indonesian Defense Forces), Polri (National Police), and the underprivileged.

Furthermore, the Home Affairs Ministry will focus on the two main tasks of controlling inflation and digitalization of the government.

"The six percent inflation dropped to 1.8 percent. We will continue our weekly inflation control meeting until further notice," he remarked.
