Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas) collaborates with a private party in the ZMart program to support alms recipients who have small businesses.

"This collaboration is an important part of our mission to empower alms recipients to be economically independent," Baznas' Head of Distribution and Utilization Saidah Sakwan stated here on Tuesday.

She explained that the ZMart program is part of the efforts to empower the economic status of beneficiaries.

The program assists beneficiaries owning micro to small businesses to develop in the hopes that it can help overcome poverty in urban areas.

"We provide funding support and logistics supply for the beneficiaries' businesses," she remarked.

Sakwan is optimistic that through collaboration with the private party in the ZMart program, the recipients would receive essential business tools and logistics promptly, thereby enabling proper business development.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), this program is currently running with a total of 445 recipients spread across Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, Maluku, Bangka Belitung Islands, Yogyakarta and West Java," she said.

So far, the program's implementation is halfway through and is targeted to be completed in December 2024.

Sakwan said her side plans to expand the program next year by covering more recipients and regions to assist more small businesses.

One of the program's recipients, Lusi Hermayani from Bandung, West Java, stated that the additional funding helped her. She said the assistance is of immense help when business is slow.

"Thank you Baznas for providing this assistance, because without the support, I may find it difficult to carry out the business," she remarked.
