"The President asked for this to be resolved immediately so that (the agreement) can be signed," Hartarto informed after meeting Prabowo at the Presidential Palace here on Tuesday.
He said that during the meeting, he reported on the progress of the IEU-CEPA negotiation. There are three main issues that are still being discussed, particularly electronic transmission taxation, he disclosed.
He said that President Prabowo has asked him to resolve the issue without delay, considering that the IEU-CEPA discussion has stretched seven years.
"This is an agreement that has been discussed for seven years, and it is our duty to complete it soon," he added.

Earlier, in September 2024, Hartarto said that the IEU-CEPA negotiation process had been hampered by Cabinet changes in the European Union.
He explained that the negotiation had run into challenges because of a reshuffle in the ranks of the European Commission, which resulted in changes in the requirements for Indonesia.
Hartarto said there were three issues that needed to be resolved promptly, including the European Union's demand for Indonesia to relax import policies for products originating from Europe.
The other issues were related to export restriction policies on the implementation of export duties and digital taxation.
