Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital seeks to transform local communities in regions into digital literacy agents, enlisting their support to improve the community's understanding of connectivity and safe digital space.

Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid stated after a discussion with the media and digital literacy communities here on Wednesday that eight thousand volunteers from regions are ready to participate in boosting people's digital literacy.

Hafid noted that while the government is building digital infrastructure and governance, collaborative efforts involving various parties, including the community, are needed to create a safe and productive digital space.

"It must be maintained together, otherwise, it is impossible to have a wise internet (community), an empathetic internet (community)," she remarked.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital is opening opportunities for collaboration to anyone interested in serving as a digital literacy agent.

People who have taken digital literacy classes prepared by the ministry can register to become members through the literasidigital.id website.

Digital literacy classes provided by the government include topics on digital proficiency, digital safety, digital culture, and digital ethics.

People who have completed the digital literacy classes and received certificates can register to become digital literacy agents of the Ministry of Communication and Digital.

During her first work visit after being appointed as communication and digital minister, Meutya Hafid visited East Nusa Tenggara and held discussions with local communities in the region.

During the meeting with local communities, she received input on creating a safe digital space to enhance digital learning opportunities.

During her visit, the minister also invited religious leaders to participate in efforts to improve the community's digital literacy.
