Mu'ti explained that the method he introduced carries the concept of learning through play, which not only teaches PAUD students to do simple counting but also trains their motor skills.
"The saying is that 'they are so young, but they have been taught to count, they will get dizzy.' However, I apply and introduce this mathematical learning concept through playing because the principle of education in PAUD is to learn by play," Mu'ti explained here on Friday.
The learning method is expected to help form a strong generation of students from an early age. He emphasized the importance of early childhood education in building a future quality generation.
"Hopefully, with this (method of learning), we can build a strong generation through early childhood education," Mu'ti stated.
Minister Mu'ti's trip to Palembang was his first working visit since being appointed by President Prabowo Subianto as primary and secondary education minister.
This time, he was accompanied by Chairman of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR), Hetifah Sjaifudian.
On that occasion, Mu'ti handed over school operation assistance as well as 80 packages of school supplies comprising backpacks, picture books, story books, crayons, and stationery.
Mu'ti affirmed that his visit was part of the efforts to improve educational services for all groups of the community and support the 13-year compulsory education program.
Mu'ti explained that Palembang was chosen as the first location for his working visit because of the region's connection with Sriwijaya Kingdom and the region's key role in Indonesian history.
