Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono expressed his side's readiness to empower community groups should President Prabowo Subianto incorporate their participation in implementing the Free Nutritious Meal program.

"We already have a prototype (of the program's implementation) through the community groups. If the president orders it, they will be our base to carry out the works of the free meal program, " Priyono remarked during a visit to Bambu Apus Village in Cipayung Sub-district here on Friday.

Even before the launch of the free nutritious meal program, he noted that the Social Affairs Ministry already had in place a program to provide free healthy food to the elderly and disabled.

"Before this program is applied, we have implemented the provision of nutritious food for the elderly and disabled and that was implemented by the community itself. We just have to wait for an order from the president," Priyono stated.

During his working visit, the deputy minister also heard aspirations from the locals to understand their problems and also ensured that the Ministry of Social Affairs' programs ran well.

"I represent the social affairs minister in carrying out the president's order, namely building from the bottom, from the periphery, starting from the unfortunate (people)," Priyono stated.

On that occasion, he also handed over food assistance to Irfan Fahrudin, a 40-year-old man with intellectual disability.

In addition to food, Fahrudin received home renovation assistance, room facilities such as a mattress and wardrobe, a dish rack, clothing, and a personal hygiene kit.

His mother also received assistance from the ministry in the form of a business tool.
