Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Culture is planning to review all regulations related to culture starting next year, with the purpose of simplifying all such regulations into one single law.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said here on Monday that the field of culture is currently regulated by several laws, including the law related to museum and the law regulating music.

"We will gather all the regulations together. Starting next year, we will start preparing for the Cultural Law," he said after a meeting with workers in the film sector at the ministry's office here on Monday.

According to the minister, the culture sector needs to be regulated by a single law as the regulations related to it are too many.

In addition, the government is planning to combine the many rules on culture into a simpler, more structured, and integrated legal framework called the Omnibus Law on Culture.

Minister Zon said that his ministry will set up a special team to review the scheme for simplifying regulations on culture after the formation of its organizational structure is completed.

"Currently, we are still in the early stages of preparing for the organization in the new ministry. We are still preparing the Organizational Structure and Governance (STOK). There have been no officials yet until today," he informed.

He said that the Omnibus Law on Culture is expected to streamline regulations to support education and the preservation of art and culture.

Earlier, on October 30, 2024, Minister Zon shared several priority work programs that will be carried out within the first 100 days of work.

"We will reach cultural actors from the fields of music, film, performing arts, traditional arts, and other fields," he said.
