Besides Diks, the meeting also okayed the naturalization of two women footballers, Estella Loupattij and Noa Leatomu.
The request for the naturalization of Diks, Loupattij, and Leatomu is aimed at strengthening the national football team.
"In this regard, we are requesting approval whether the application for consideration of Indonesian citizenship for Kevin Diks, Noa Leatomu, Estella Loupattij, can be approved," Deputy Speaker of the House Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said.
The request was approved by the meeting participants. Ahmad then informed that the approval will be followed up as per the applicable mechanism.
The approval of the naturalization of the three footballers was the only agenda of the plenary meeting.
Ahmad informed that the consultation meeting between the House Leadership and the leaders of factions had assigned Commission X of the House and Commission XIII of the House to discuss the request for their naturalization.
"Based on the results of the discussion, Commission X and Commission XIII agreed to grant Indonesian citizenship to the names listed," he said.
Diks' grandfather was born in Morotai and his grandmother in Ambon. The 28-year-old center back currently plays for Copenhagen FC.
Loupattij, 20, is also Dutch-Indonesian. Her grandmother was born in Larantuka, Flores. She is a winger with the Amsterdamsche FC.
Meanwhile, Leatomu, 20, is also Indonesian-Dutch and currently plays as a winger for the Alemania Aachen Club.
