Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong called for an immediate cessation of violence in the Middle East, especially in Palestine and Lebanon, in order to maintain international peace.

"Regarding the Middle East, I express my deep concern over the situation in Palestine and Lebanon. I emphasize the importance of continuing to call for an end to violence. Immediately," Prabowo stated after a meeting with Wong at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday.

According to Prabowo, the two leaders shared similar views on regional and international issues at the meeting.

The two leaders agreed on the need to maintain peace and security at the regional and international levels amid the increasingly complex geopolitical situation, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and Singapore encourage the delivery of humanitarian aid to affected victims in the conflicted areas to be carried out without obstacles.

He also conveyed that peace between Palestine and Israel could be achieved following applicable legal steps.

"Unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and the achievement of a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel based on international law," Prabowo noted.

Indonesia, under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto, confirmed its commitment to supporting Palestinian independence by continuing similar steps taken by the earlier presidents before him.

In his inauguration speech as the 8th president of Indonesia, Prabowo stated that the Indonesian government is preparing to send more humanitarian aid to Palestine.

"We are ready to send more humanitarian aid to Palestine. We are ready to evacuate injured victims, including children, who are traumatized, who are victims of war," the president remarked.

Prabowo also echoed Indonesia's readiness to provide hospitals to help victims of war.

"We are preparing military hospitals to help our brothers and sisters who are victims of an unjust war," he affirmed.

Furthermore, Prabowo reiterated the government's support for the Palestinian people who are still reeling from war.

"We must be in solidarity. We must defend the people in oppressed countries throughout the world. For that, we support the independence of the Palestinian people," he remarked.
