“We are supporting food security through the development of dams, the development and rehabilitation of irrigation networks, and the construction of roads and bridges to enhance connectivity,” he said.
He made these remarks at the opening of the 2024 Coordination Meeting on Regional Infrastructure Development Integration in Public Works in Jakarta on Friday.
Bolstering food security is one of the Quick-Win initiatives supporting the main programs of President Prabowo Subianto.
The Ministry of Public Works has also created Quick-Win programs to support the strategic initiatives of other ministries and agencies, including the development of the Giant Sea Wall, the new capital city Nusantara project, and the construction of roads and bridges.
Other projects include traditional markets, drinking water infrastructure, sanitation and waste management systems, sports facilities, health infrastructure, and the renovation of tourism areas, industrial zones, and evacuation centers.
According to Hanggodo, three strategies will be incorporated into the 2026 infrastructure programs. First, following President Prabowo’s direction by adhering to the Asta Cita, or eight key missions, including a focus on food self-sufficiency and regional equality.
Second, optimizing the use of completed infrastructure so it can immediately benefit communities. Third, strengthening cooperation between ministries and regional governments to achieve national infrastructure development goals.
At the same event, the head of the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency, Yudha Mediawan, stated that the opening of the coordination meeting marks the start of preparations for the ministry’s programs and activities related to infrastructure for the 2026 fiscal year.
