Budi Sulistiyo, the ministry’s director general for strengthening the competitiveness of marine and fishery products, stated on Monday that his office has prepared the data of those MSMEs to be given to the National Nutrition Agency.
“We have obtained data on 2,802 microenterprises, 69 small enterprises, and 13 medium enterprises," he said during a talk show on food self-sufficiency on Monday.
He explained that after identifying the MSMEs to support the program, his ministry is cooperating with the Ministry of Cooperatives to guide fishery cooperatives in becoming active partners in distributing nutritious food.
Sulistiyo noted that the program's primary aim is to drive the community's economy through fishery cooperatives.
The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is also seeking to bolster the activities of cooperatives to make them more effective in supporting the distribution of quality food and stimulating the regional economy.
This program also includes disseminating information and educating schoolchildren about the benefits of consuming fish, as well as information on the availability of fish in the market.
To support the program's continuity, the ministry has highlighted its readiness to provide routine training and conduct intensive communication with MSMEs in the fishery sector.
