"Everything that is an obstacle to accelerating the distribution of subsidized fertilizers from the government to farmers will be cut," he remarked here on Monday.
He noted that no fewer than 147 regulations overseeing subsidized fertilizer distribution had been identified as a major barrier to farmers receiving their supplies when needed.
Sulaiman noted that the government is currently preparing a presidential regulation regarding the distribution of fertilizers.
Nevertheless, he could not yet confirm the number of regulations related to fertilizer distribution that would be slashed.
"We will see later. It is currently being discussed, being processed," he remarked.
Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan stated that the government will issue a Presidential Regulation regarding the distribution of subsidized fertilizers to farmers.
At the World Food Day commemoration event in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday (November 16), he noted that the regulations will be slashed to streamline the distribution of subsidized fertilizers.
"Hopefully, the presidential regulation will be out in January," he remarked.
He explained that the regulation will regulate the distribution of fertilizers directly from producers to farmers groups. The Ministry of Agriculture will regulate the fertilizer quota.
In an event in South Lampung, Lampung, on Sunday (November 11), Deputy President Director of state-owned fertilizer holding company Pupuk Indonesia Gusrizal stated that the government has raised the quota of subsidized fertilizers in 2024 from 4.7 million tons to 9.5 million tons.
He noted that the distribution had so far reached six million tons, or 127 percent of the initial allocation.
