"I think the logistical and medical support over there, as well as other support, is sufficient," he informed at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said that the Ministry of Social Affairs, together with related agencies, is continuing to strive to provide treatment to the affected community.
He expounded that the support from the ministry covers two main clusters, that is logistics and temporary housing or shelters.
The minister noted that there are still a number of obstacles in the field, however, they are being handled gradually through coordination with local governments, volunteers, and security forces such as the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).
"From the reports we heard in the field, every problem is being immediately resolved. The district head is also proactive; there are also many volunteers; the TNI and Polri are also alert," he said.
He added that the rehabilitation phase for public facilities has begun, although the emergency response period will continue until December 2024.
He revealed that Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno is leading the planning for the rehabilitation of facilities affected by the disaster.
"Mr. Pratikno led the planning to rehabilitate damaged houses, damaged schools, damaged places of worship. All of that is in the process and we want it to be handled as soon as possible," he said.
Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted on November 4, 2024. The disaster killed nine persons and left four others injured and thousands of people displaced.
Based on government data, the number of residents affected by the eruption reached 12,962 as of November 22, 2024.
A total of 5,599 eruption victims were recorded to be staying in 6 field posts and 7,363 others were staying in residents' or family homes.
