Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Navigation Service Provider Agency, or AirNav Indonesia, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to collaborate on advancing technology and improving flight safety.

AirNav Indonesia President Director Polana Banguningsih Pramesti and FAA Air Traffic Organization Operations Director Timothy Arel inked the MoU on the sidelines of the ICAO Thirty-Fifth Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG/35) held in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 25-27.

"This MoU aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in flight navigation between Indonesia and the United States, focusing on technology development and improving flight safety," Pramesti noted in a press release from Jakarta on Wednesday.

She affirmed that this aligns with the Ministry of SOEs' commitment to creating a safer and more sustainable future for flight navigation.

Pramesti explained that both parties will collaborate on several strategic topics, including the development of communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) infrastructure and automation; the design and development of airspace and its procedures; the development of flight data processing methodology; the planning of flight traffic flow regularity (ATFM); unmanned flight operations, including drones; and other collaborative initiatives.

The agency stated that this collaboration marks a significant step forward in strengthening Indonesia-US relations in the field of flight navigation.

"By sharing knowledge and experience, we can together drive technology development, improve operational efficiency, and ensure better flight safety in Indonesian airspace and the Asia-Pacific region," Pramesti remarked.

With the signing of this MoU, AirNav Indonesia and the FAA are committed to strengthening collaboration and fostering innovation to support the progress of the global aviation industry, Pramesti said.
