Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The regional head elections in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) ran safely and smoothly, according to the NTT police chief.

"We ensure that the voting runs smoothly, safely, and according to the rules," said Police Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga during his inspection at polling stations in Kupang City on Wednesday.

He underlined the significance of following the procedure throughout the voting process, from voter registration to vote casting.

He closely monitored various aspects of the voting processes at the polling stations, including the registration process, the completeness of voting facilities and infrastructure, and the maintenance of order.

The inspection was conducted to ensure that every voting process ran smoothly and without obstacles.

Silitonga explained that NTT police officers designed security measures based on the vulnerability level of each polling station. They stepped up security at polling stations considered vulnerable.

He appealed to all NTT residents to maintain public security and order during the election day.

"Let us carry out this democratic process well, joyfully, and calmly," he said. "We, the security forces, will guard it as safely as possible so that the community can celebrate democracy today."
