Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin credited the successful execution of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) to the hard work of the election organizers and comprehensive support received from all parties.

"The community's maturity in facing the democratic climate and differences was also a determining (factor)," Afifuddin noted when contacted by ANTARA from here on Thursday.

The 2024 Regional Head Election's voting day was held on Wednesday, November 27.

However, he admitted to some shortcomings in the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada.

To that end, Afifuddin said the KPU is finding solutions to the obstacles encountered in the regional head election.

"For example, we will carry out PSSU (ballot recounting) for several areas in North Sumatra that were impacted by the flood. Some Pilkada (vote collection in some areas) are postponed, while some are followed up," he revealed.

Afifuddin highlighted that his side currently awaits the official vote recapitulation result from the sub-district, district, city, to provincial levels to see the overall voters' participation in the 2024 Pilkada.

The Pilkada has currently advanced to the stage of vote count recapitulation.

The recapitulation is being conducted in stages at the sub-district level by the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) from November 28 to December 3, 2024.

The district- and city-level recapitulation will be held on November 29-December 6, while the provincial-level recapitulation will be conducted on November 30-December 9, 2024.

Following the vote count compilation, the next procedural step involves formally declaring and communicating the consolidated election results. The district- and city-level regional head election results will be announced on November 29-December 12, 2024, while the provincial-level results will be declared on November 30-December 15, 2024.
