Mochizuki, a former Japanese national team player, is reportedly learning the Indonesian language. Moreover, he was spotted singing Indonesia's national anthem, Indonesia Raya, while accompanying the women's team.
"He shows remarkable immersion in Indonesia, as evidenced by his willingness to learn our language, eat Indonesian foods, adapt to Indonesian culture, and sing along when Indonesia Raya is played," Thohir noted in his Instagram account as cited here on Sunday.
The former chairman of the Italian club Inter Milan also appreciated Mochizuki for his dedication to comprehensively overhauling the female Garuda Squad.
He spoke highly of the coach's efforts in not only improving the team's technical skills but also in instilling critical values, such as discipline, hard work, and perseverance, in the players.
"Thank you, Coach Mochizuki, for the hard work and love you have shown to Indonesia. Let us bring the female Garudas to the world level," he stated in his Instagram post.
Thohir appointed Mochizuki as the new head coach of the Indonesian women's national football team in February 2024.
In his introductory remarks, the Japanese coach stated his commitment to learning the Indonesian language to facilitate himself to foster a bond with the players and convey instructions.
Under Mochizuki's command, the Indonesian women's team managed to win its first regional title at the AFF Women's Cup 2024 held in Laos.
The team earned the right to lift the championship's trophy after defeating Cambodia with a scoreline of 3-1 in the decisive clash that took place at New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane on December 5.
