"We have never differentiated our commitment to developing women's football," he said at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday.
Thohir added that one way PSSI is supporting the national women's football team, known as "Garuda Pertiwi," is by providing top-tier facilities and programs.
He mentioned that PSSI has allocated Rp36 billion (approximately US$2.3 million) to support the national women's team's activities across all age groups, including training camps, friendly matches, and participation in international tournaments.
"Securing such a large amount of funding is not easy, but it’s part of our commitment. We persuade the government and private sector to trust and support the women's national team," he said.
Thohir, who also serves as the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), added that PSSI is offering full support to help the team reach its goal of qualifying for the 2027 Women's World Cup.
The Indonesian women's football team, coached by Japan’s Satoru Mochizuki, will attend a training camp in Japan from September to October this year.
The team will face the Netherlands women’s team on October 25 and the Jordan U-20 women’s team at the end of October.
After these preparatory matches, the national women's team will compete in the 2024 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women's Cup, held from November 23 to December 5 in Laos.
The team will also participate in the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup Asian Zone qualifiers next year.
"Who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky and qualify for the 2027 Women's World Cup," Thohir remarked.
