"It will be given in stages within five years," he informed at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
According to Sadikin, the donation is a form of gratitude from the government to GAVI, which provided 110.3 million vaccine doses to Indonesia free of cost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The vaccines were worth USD684.6 million. GAVI also provided logistical assistance in the form of cold chain equipment and financial support worth nearly USD1 billion.
GAVI chairperson Jose Manuel Barroso met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on December 6.
Besides pushing for continued cooperation, Barroso also congratulated Prabowo on his election as the 8th President of Indonesia.
"The GAVI chairman invited Indonesia to continue to cooperate with his organization. We do not know if there will be another pandemic. They are the ones who have the most vaccine stocks," Sadikin informed.
Earlier, Prabowo announced the US$30 million donation for GAVI.
"I am grateful for the support of GAVI's assistance. We have now recovered and are willing to help GAVI in its next work with the USD30 million donation," he said while welcoming Barroso.
He further said that Indonesia should take a stand with GAVI as a global alliance for continuing humanitarian tasks, especially dealing with outbreaks and pandemics.
Although Indonesia's capacity and role are still considered average, Prabowo noted that the donation is expected to demonstrate the nation's commitment to GAVI's role.
Earlier, Sadikin emphasized the importance of continuing his ministry's partnership with GAVI to support Indonesia's immunization program and reduce child mortality.
He highlighted the positive impact of GAVI's support since 2002, which has helped Indonesia lower its child mortality rate.
