"Congratulations, keep up the spirit and inspire others," he remarked as he presented trophies to the racers at the 2023/2024 Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) Award ceremony, according to the ministry's website, which was accessed from Jakarta on Tuesday.
Gelael won the 6 Hours of Imola FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship) 2024, while Mahendra aced the 2024 World Supersport WorldSSP 300cc.
Ariotedjo praised the achievements of the two young racers who have brought honor to Indonesia on the international stage.
The 34-year-old minister said he hopes that the two racers will continue to strive to add to their accomplishments, inspiring other Indonesian racers to compete at the global level.
The IMI Award is an exclusive tradition to recognize Indonesian racing athletes across racing events such as motorcycle racing, car racing, aquabike, and digital motorsport.
The IMI gave out 417 trophies to talented racing athletes who won competitions at the national, Asian, and international levels, as well as the best teams, automotive figures, and the best IMI provincial representatives.
IMI chairperson Bambang Soesatyo said that the IMI Award seeks to provide energy, enthusiasm, and motivation to young Indonesian racing talents to become champions.
"With the spirit of perseverance, we will not stop working for Indonesia and striving for success in the global automotive world," he said.
Bambang added that the IMI is committed to continuing to nurture athletes and pursue global achievements with the support and guidance of the Youth and Sports Minister. He said he hopes that motorsports will continue to thrive in the future and make a mark on the world stage.
