Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Ahmad Riza Patria made the statement at the Utilization of Village Index in Village Development Planning for Village Progress event followed online here on Wednesday.
Patria noted that as a measuring tool in assessing the level of village progress, integrated and standardized data in the Village Index could serve as a basis for regional governments in determining priority loci, such as villages with key tourism potential.
Thus, programs implemented for villages can be more accurate.
"It can also be a basis for determining loci of priority villages that need intervention in the field of basic services," he explained.
Furthermore, the deputy minister noted that so far, the Village Index can determine the status of the village, become an important instrument in positioning the village, and function as the basis for evaluation regarding the level of progress and independence of the village.
The Village Index is also a basis for integrated budgeting between the state, regional, and village budgets. Moreover, it becomes an instrument of coordination between ministries, agencies, regional governments, village governments, and other related institutions.
"The Village Index can also bolster synergy in the efforts to develop advanced and independent villages," he remarked.
On that occasion, Patria also highlighted his ministry's commitment to utilizing the Village Index maximally as an important tool for evaluation and planning.
"To this end, we will continue to cooperate with all stakeholders, such as regional governments, experts, and the community, to ensure that the data can be accessed, interpreted, and implemented maximally," he remarked.
