Jakarta (ANTARA) - Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar has informed that the discussion on the cost of organizing Hajj (BPIH) in 2025 with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) will be carried out soon.

"Currently, the DPR is still in recess. Maybe this month," he said at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (PMK) in Jakarta on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the minister disclosed that he had determined the number of pilgrim quotas and proposed BPIH for 2025 and was awaiting the approval of DPR.

He said that he had prepared his best to support the implementation of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, including a meeting with Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabian, Tawfiq F. Al Rabiah.

Meanwhile, the director general of Hajj and Umrah organization (PHU), Hilman Latief, said that the agreement on the cost of Hajj must first be discussed with the DPR.

"So, God Willing, we will propose it at the end of the year, and hopefully, the discussion will be carried out early next year," he added.

However, he was reluctant to provide information about the Hajj costs determined by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

"About the amount, later," he said.

Earlier, at a meeting between Umar and head of the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH), Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, on December 4, 2024, Commission VIII had asked the ministry to immediately propose the 2025 BPIH.

According to the ministry's agenda, the first flight to the Holy Land, Saudi Arabia, will be on May 2, 2025.

So far, Commission VIII has not agreed on and determined the Hajj costs and other technical preparations, including the quota of pilgrims.
