Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar discussed strategic measures to accelerate poverty alleviation in Indonesia.

Yusuf stated that the meeting aimed to achieve the goal of reducing of extreme poverty to zero percent by 2025.

"The proposed program involves utilizing Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) as the foundation for implementation, then executed through three Directorates-General with their respective duties and functions," the minister noted in a statement from his office on Wednesday.

Yusuf also outlined his ministry's programs and areas of focus during the meeting.

The Social Affairs Ministry applies a targeted, integrated, and sustainable approach in the form of social assistance distribution, community empowerment through the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), and efforts to increase economic capacity for vulnerable groups and the poor.

"We ensure those programs reach the targeted community groups," he remarked.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of cross-sector coordination to prevent overlap in poverty alleviation programs.

Yusuf emphasized the need to enhance monitoring and evaluation to ensure accurate distribution of assistance.

"We need support and synergy from various parties, including ministries, local governments, and other related institutions. This is important for our programs to run more effectively and efficiently and can be felt directly by the poor," he stated.

Meanwhile, Minister Iskandar echoed the government's commitment to ensuring poverty alleviation as a top priority in national development.

He underscored the need to immediately address extreme poverty in several regions through more integrated policies.

"We aim to achieve zero percent extreme poverty by 2025. We must ensure that every program runs with a concrete impact on the field. Accurate data, program integration, and strict supervision are the keys to success," he emphasized.

On that occasion, the meeting's participants also provided inputs related to on-field challenges, such as the obstacles to aid distribution, infrastructure disparities in underdeveloped areas, and the need to increase human resource capacity in program implementation.
