He stressed the importance of establishing at least one pre-primary school in every village across the country, as the 13-year compulsory education program for Indonesian children will begin at the preschool level.
“We will collaborate with the Villages Ministry since the ‘one village, one preschool’ policy is part of their program, which President Prabowo instructed us to support,” Mu’ti said on Thursday.
“Therefore, both ministries are encouraged to work together to ensure the program is implemented effectively,” he added.
Mu'ti explained that the implementation process would begin with verifying the current conditions of preschool institutions in villages, including those managed privately.
To support the compulsory education policy, the ministry is assessing the improvement needs of village preschools, ranging from building renovations to the procurement of learning tools.
This initiative aims to ensure that preschools can operate effectively to deliver compulsory education to their students.
Mu’ti noted that the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions would step in to develop preschools in villages lacking such institutions, ensuring every village can fulfill the 13-year compulsory education mandate.
“My ministry also welcomes public participation in supporting this policy,” he said.
He further highlighted that the development of village preschools aligns with the ministry's priorities to renovate and rehabilitate existing schools starting in 2025.
