"We are on alert until February 2025," he remarked during the "Monitoring Public Infrastructure Readiness to Support Disaster Preparedness and 2024 Christmas–2025 New Year" event on Tuesday.
He explained that the ministry has prepared heavy equipment and supporting tools to be used during the quick response period in the event of natural disasters.
"After all, if a disaster occurs, whether it is a landslide, a volcanic eruption, or a flood, the road infrastructure will also be affected," Hanggodo said.
He highlighted that in the past few months, the ministry had alerted all officials in the regions to check locations vulnerable to disasters.
The ministry has positioned heavy equipment and supporting facilities at these vulnerable points so they can be moved quickly in case of disasters.
"We have to keep anticipating so that we can deploy assistance faster. We must minimize the disaster impact on the surrounding community," Hanggodo said.
The ministry ensured that all logistics and resources required to address extreme weather during the peak rainy season were available and ready. It also confirmed the preparedness of road infrastructure for the Christmas and New Year holiday travel period.
Meanwhile, the minister's deputy, Diana Kusumastuti, as chair of the Disaster Mitigation Implementation Task Force, stated that all officials of the ministry are ready to anticipate the impact of high rainfall during the year-end period.
