"The Christmas and New Year holidays will end on January 5. Until today, we have recorded six million passengers in our 37 airports," InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi remarked in Tangerang on Monday.
He noted that cumulatively, the projected passenger movement during that period could reach 9.3 million, reflecting an increase of around six percent compared to the 8.71 million passengers recorded during the same period last year.
However, Fahmi reported that passenger movement at airports managed by InJourney Airports has increased by 10 percent over the first 12 days of the holiday.
"This indicates that our current passenger numbers are 10 percent higher than last year. This still fluctuates because we are aiming for 9.3 million passengers during this holiday season," he added.
He also noted that from the total passenger movement of six million, around 1,200 additional flights have been realized during the year-end holiday period.
"There will be other additional flights for the return flow," Fahmi stated.
He indicated that Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, has emerged as the busiest airport this holiday season, with passenger numbers expected to reach 3.05 million, marking an increase of around seven percent from the previous year's 2.85 million passengers.
"Other airports, such as those in Bali, Makassar, and Kualanamu, are also experiencing a significant spike," he pointed out.
Despite the busy holiday period and high flight traffic, his side is committed to maintaining smooth airport operations, focusing on security, safety, service, and health.
Hence, his side will continue to offer various services to enhance the public's travel experience during the extended year-end holidays.
"Until now, we can anticipate the traffic and aim for improvement always to be better," Fahmi noted.
