Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning is accelerating the certification of waqf (endowment) land and land for places of worship in 2025.

Minister Nusron Wahid said on Wednesday that only 41 percent of the total 655,238 waqf land plots across the country have been registered.

"This number is still very small compared to the existing potential, which necessitates acceleration," he said.

In 2024, the ministry certified 15,093 waqf land plots. This figure is insufficient and needs to be increased to ensure that all waqf land in Indonesia is fully registered.

One of Wahid's proposals involves establishing a special service counter at each Land Office for processing waqf land certificates. This aims to expedite the certification process for waqf land.

"For waqf land, certification is indeed hampered by lengthy processes, including the lack of documents from the donors or heirs. We will improve the digitization system to make this process faster and more transparent," he remarked.

Waqf land certification is important to provide legal certainty for land used for places of worship.

This aligns with the priority programs outlined in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). These include ensuring harmony between religious communities, freedom to carry out worship activities, and the establishment and maintenance of places of worship.

According to Wahid, non-tax state revenue from land services in 2024 reached Rp2.9 trillion (around US$178.6 million).

He noted that in 2024, the ministry provided eight million services to the community, including the issuance of electronic certificates.
