Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo reminded students of Barunawati Elementary School (SD) in Palmerah, West Jakarta, to reduce their consumption of fast food.

"Try to eat vegetables and fruits. Do not eat 'instant' food all the time. You must eat nutritious food to become a great generation," Jabo remarked while monitoring the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) at the school on Monday.

He also commended the students who had finished their meals.

"Wow, this food (rice, vegetables and side dish) is already gone," he said while pointing to a student's MBG box.

The MBG packages were distributed to 2,987 students in Palmerah, West Jakarta, Monday.

The Nutritional Service Fulfillment Unit (SPPG) Palmerah offers several menus, including rice, chicken teriyaki, crispy fried tofu, stir-fried long beans, and oranges.

Head of SPPG Palmerah Yudha Permana said they would supply MBG packages to 11 schools in West Jakarta.

"There are 2,987 students who receive this nutritious meal," he confirmed.

He noted that each portion costs Rp10 thousand.

"We use local resources and get affordable quality," he added.
