"It not only reflects the great concern of Indonesians for the humanitarian issue in Palestine but is also proof that our cross-border solidarity and care remain alive and strong," Baznas head Noor Achmad said at an event held to support Palestine in Jakarta on Wednesday.
During the event, Baznas also expanded its humanitarian aid distribution network for Palestine by virtually signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with official institutions.
The institutions are the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), and King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF).
"Through synergy with international partners, adjustments of strategy, and technology utilization, we strive to ensure that aid reaches those in need in a timely and targeted manner," he added.
He said that his agency distributed the aid through several safe, fast, and targeted distribution channels using three methods, namely direct distribution, distribution through non-Palestinian partners, and distribution through local partners in Gaza.
One of the Baznas' partners in distributing the aid was the Mishr Al Kheir of Egypt.
Achmad informed that his agency is also planning to support reconstruction efforts in Palestine by building Indonesian hospitals, mosques, and schools.
"We would like to thank all Indonesians for the extraordinary support and concern for our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Hopefully, these steps can be evidence of our solidarity as a nation that respects the values of humanity," he said.
