He described the agreement as a pivotal step forward in the Palestinian people's ongoing struggle for independence.
"We hope this ceasefire will be implemented consistently and comprehensively by the contents of the agreement," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
He emphasized Indonesia's support for the struggle for Palestinian independence, as mandated in the 1945 Constitution for building a world order based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.
He also encouraged the Indonesian people as well as the international community to continue providing humanitarian assistance and supporting the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which has been destroyed by the war.
Matta called upon the international community to not forget about Israeli atrocities in Gaza and support the International Criminal Court (ICC) in holding Israel accountable for the genocide committed against the Palestinian people.
The ceasefire announcement was made by the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in Doha on Wednesday.
He said that the ceasefire agreement, which is expected to end the Israeli aggression and genocide that has devastated Gaza, consists of three stages that will come into effect on Sunday (January 19, 2025).
The agreement reportedly encompasses provisions for the release of hostages and the exchange of prisoners, cessation of fighting, security guarantees for Israel, and the entry of substantial humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The agreement, which was mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the US, is also said to include a plan for dialogue regarding the future government of the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction of the Palestinian territory.
